The Smart Destination Platform, European funds and AI, at the heart of the 12th edition of FITUR Know-How & Export

MADRID – The Smart Destination Platform, the role of European funds in the digital transformation of the tourism sector and Artificial Intelligence will be the focus of the 12th edition of FITUR Know-How & Export, organised by SEGITTUR and FITUR, in collaboration with ICEX Spain Trade and Investment, taking place from 24 to 26 January 2024 at IFEMA MADRID.

 The Smart Destination Platform will be a focal point at FITUR Know-How & Export, in an edition which will be addressing how European Next Generation funds are helping the digital transformation of destinations, SDP user cases, and the importance of data in improving tourism management.

 Special attention will also be given to the smart destinations model, both at national and international level. To this end, representatives of multilateral institutions such as the IDB, the Asian Development Bank and the CAF Development Bank of Latin America will be present.

 Artificial Intelligence will also be present, not only with presentations, but also with the first competition of tourism solutions developed with Artificial Intelligence for which nearly 20 applications have been received from destinations and companies in the sector. The first “The IA for Tourism Awards 2024” will take place on 25 January.

 All of this without forgetting the importance of sustainability, focusing on the sector’s transition to the circular economy and on the creation of agricultural experiences, as well as on the knowledge of the industry’s best  practices in terms of the SDGs as a result of the UN Global Compact working group.

Finally, in the FITUR Know-How & Export workshop area, tourism professionals will be able to find a wide range of training options, including hotel digitalisation, the impact of sustainability on bookings, the use of free GPT in tourist offices to attract tourists and the innovative use of virtual tours and the implementation of intelligent tourist signage.
