Cycas Hospitality’s growth continues into 2024 following their landmark appointment to manage The Ormond Hotel in Dublin on behalf of the Ormond Group, a leading hospitality group from Southeast Asia. This will be Cycas Hospitality’s first property in Ireland and marks another significant step in their pan-European expansion.
Overlooking the river Liffey in central Dublin, the reimagined Ormond Hotel embraces its culturally rich surroundings with a nod to its illustrious past, famously immortalised in James Joyce’s masterpiece, “Ulysses”.
The 120-key hotel seeks to represent the complexity of modern Dublin life, tuned to its sense of place through its thoughtful and elegant design. A mix of vintage and modern furniture, lighting, art and ephemera will create a timeless design that marries function and aesthetics, grounding The Ormond Hotel in contemporary Dublin’s vibrant hospitality scene. The guestrooms will be refined and confident and act as a sanctuary for guests to retreat to before they are ready to begin another journey back into the city and quay.
The hotel’s bar and all-day dining restaurant will act as a standalone destination for guests. Comfortable padded booths will create intimate and cosy nooks and add a sense of privacy for each party, whilst marching cased openings magnify the scale of the room. The property will also feature a private dining space, designed as an intimate parlour with a grand central table and rich panelling painted with saturation and in a deep hue.
The iconic Sirens Bar finds its rebirth from Chapter 11 of James Joyce’s “Ulysses”. Here, the design narrative will reflect the novel’s profound themes with its velvet curtains, reminiscent of the theatrical allure of Dublin’s past and a sleek marble bar, echoing the elegance of Dublin’s Georgian architecture.
Gareth Lim, CEO of the Ormond Group said: “We are thrilled to have Cycas on board. Their expertise and dedication to guest satisfaction make them the perfect hotel management partner as we prepare to re-establish the iconic Ormond Hotel and its culturally significant Joyceian connections as a stalwart of Dublin’s hospitality scene”
Matt Luscombe, CEO of Cycas Hospitality added: “We are looking forward to partnering with the Ormond Group to bring our shared hospitality values to life with the signing of this fantastic new hotel. Dublin is a dynamic and culturally rich city, and this represents an important step in our journey at Cycas Hospitality.”
