ROME – ITA Airways is participating in the World Travel Market Europe that takes place in London from the 6th to the 8th of November. In its 44th edition, the event is hosted in the ExCel exhibition centre and, will be the occasion for the Italian carrier to showcase its brand, its network, and the news of the winter season to key players in the tourism industry in Europe and around the globe.
ITA Airways is exhibiting together with the Italian National Tourist Board, tourism boards and travel companies from throughout Italy. At the ITA Airways stand, the local team will welcome guests, tour operators, leisure agents and destination management companies.
The company’s main news is the start of a non-stop connection from Milan Linate to London City operated with the new Airbus A220-100, with 3 daily frequencies that will become 4 in January. This will enable ITA Airways to offer its passengers a total of 48 roundtrip flights per week to and from the British capital. The A220-100, named after Fiona May, is the smallest jet liner among Airbus commercial aircraft and it is particularly suitable for short-haul connections thanks to its efficiency and comfort standards. In addition, its small size makes it highly appropriate for flying to London City, an airport where operating conditions require the use of smaller aircraft equipped with special technologies.
ITA Airways’ offer for the UK market includes up to 90 roundtrip flights per week between London and its two hubs: Rome Fiumicino and Milan Linate. In addition to daily connections from Milan Linate, the company offers daily connections from Rome Fiumicino to London Heathrow.
ITA Airways also continues its network expansion strategy: in the winter season, the company will operate 52 destinations including 12 intercontinental, 23 international and 17 national. Two new intercontinental routes, Rio de Janeiro and Malè (Maldives), join New York, Boston, Miami, Los Angeles, Washington, San Francisco, São Paulo, Buenos Aires, Tokyo, and New Delhi.
