Dozens of pilots and enthusiasts from around the UK visited Southampton Airport this weekend as part of a special event. The exclusive event, on Sunday, 1st September allowed members of the General Aviation (GA) community and to engage directly with Southampton Airport management.
More than 35 people landed at the airport to explore the Hampshire region as well as helping provide valuable feedback to the airport.
The event provided a relaxed environment for participants to discuss their experiences and offer suggestions on how the airport can enhance its services for GA aircraft.
More than 300 applications to take part in the exclusive event were received by the Airport.
Gavin Williams, Managing Director of Southampton Airport, said: “We are thrilled with the feedback and the enthusiasm shown by the GA community. This event was a fantastic opportunity for us to connect with pilots and hear directly from them about how we can make Southampton Airport more GA-friendly. We are committed to supporting General Aviation and are eager to implement the feedback we received.”
The event highlighted the Airport’s dedication to fostering strong relationships with the GA community, ensuring that the airport remains a welcoming and accommodating space for all types of aviation.
Dan Townsend, Head of Airside Operations at Southampton Airport, also expressed his enthusiasm for the event, saying, “This gathering was a valuable experience for both the airport team and the GA community. It allowed us to better understand the unique needs of GA pilots and how we can enhance their experience at Southampton Airport. We are dedicated to improving our facilities and operations to make the airport as accessible and convenient as possible for General Aviation.”
