HOLLYWOOD, FL – Due to strong sales and growing interest, Scenic is unveiling its 2025 European River Cruise season earlier than usual – adding more eight- and 15-day departures, new itineraries and city extensions and updating the suite categories to simplify the choices for guests.
Two new itineraries highlight the season. The popular eight-day Gems of the Danube has been changed to now sail between Regensburg and Budapest, allowing for more time in ports to explore along the route. Added to this route is a stop in Bratislava, the capital city of Slovakia, and new excursions: exploring the city’s medieval old town (dating back to the 9th century) with an expert guide; and a morning of enjoying coffee and cake with friendly locals at the famous and historic Komuth Bakeri, decorated in Renaissance-style paintings and frescos.
The 16-day Danube Delta Discovery will now sail between Budapest and Bucharest in 2025 on a true Eastern European itinerary, where guests will be able to dive deep into the cultures and historical sites of six former behind-the-Iron-Curtain countries as well as enjoy the nightlife in four capital cities – Budapest, Bratislava, Belgrade and Bucharest – during overnight port calls. Highlights include a small boat cruise through the 580,000-hectare wetlands of the Danube Delta, teeming with more than 300 species of birds; an exclusive private classical music concert at the majestic Gödöllõ Royal Palace, one of the favorite residences of Queen Elisabeth of Hungary; an e-bike tour through the Kopacki Rit nature park, a natural habitat for 293 different kinds of birds, 46 species of freshwater fish, several amphibians and reptiles; and a cooking class on making Banica, the traditional Bulgarian cheese-filled pie.
The best way to add vacation time to a cruise is through city extensions. Scenic is adding two new three-day options for the 2025 season – Nuremburg and Munich, on top of the 10 already offered. As Bavaria’s second-largest city, Nuremberg has had a turbulent history. As an important commercial hub from the Middle Ages onwards, the city’s rich heritage can still be seen and felt in its Old Town and one of the most significant imperial forts of the Holy Roman Empire, the 12th-century Imperial Castle, the preferred residence of German kings. Modern history is as important as the city’s Documentation Center Nazi Party Rallying Grounds is a much-heralded museum whose permanent exhibition “Fascination and Terror” focusing on the causes, connections, and consequences of Nazi Germany.
Munich is one of Europe’s most vibrant cities and exploring for three days will allow guests to journey between world-class museums, the 15th-century Frauenkirche church with its two distinctive onion domes, the famous carillon (Glockenspiel) in Marienplatz, a stroll through the English Garden – Munich’s green lung, and a beer at the world famous Hofbräuhaus, founded in 1589. For those guests traveling in October, Munich’s Oktoberfest is world famous and certainly worth the experience.
Planning and booking early comes with their own rewards. Scenic is offering 2-for-1 pricing for guest booking early as well as free air for those who pay in full at least 12 months prior to departure.
