MUNICH – limehome, the leading tech-enabled provider and operator of fully digitalized design apartments in Europe, is expanding into three new countries: Italy, Greece and Switzerland.
The two Mediterranean countries Greece and Italy are among the most visited tourist destinations in the world. Switzerland is an attractive destination for both leisure and business travelers. The hospitality tech company continues its rapid growth path with newly signed locations in Rome, Milan, Salerno, Maiori, Athens, Piraeus and Zurich. Five years after its launch, the Munich-based company is present in ten European markets with more than 5,000 apartments.
Rome and Athens are among the most popular travel destinations in Europe while Milan, Piraeus and Zurich are important national economic hubs. The Amalfi Coast has long been a favourite with international and local visitors alike. limehome is thus further expanding its strong position in Europe’s top travel destinations. The market entry in the countries’ major cities will be followed in the future by locations in regional centers and smaller strategic business and leisure destinations.
limehome aims for presence throughout Europe
“The long-term objective is to offer our exceptional guest experience throughout Europe. Italy and Greece are evergreens of leisure tourism and an important part of our expansion strategy in Europe. As one of the leading financial centers in Europe, Zurich is a particularly interesting business location for our business guests,” says limehome CEO Dr. Josef Vollmayr. “Greece has seen a strong influx of international businesses and has great catch-up potential in terms of its economy. We see great opportunities for our business model in both markets and aim to rapidly expand our offering in both countries.”
Ricky Bichel, Head of International Expansion at limehome, adds: “To become Europe’s leading serviced apartment provider, entering three markets is a big step in our expansion strategy. When we look at new markets, we pay particular attention to the long-term prospects. This means that we are not only interested in single projects. Instead, we are looking for partners with whom we can be successful in the long term. And not only the capital cities are interesting for us. As limehome is also profitable in smaller cities, we want to be present in as many places as possible. We already are in promising talks with partners in Switzerland, for example. But there is much more potential for serviced apartments: we are currently looking for new projects in more than 500 locations across Europe.”
From student quarter to Unesco World Heritage Site: limehome in Italy
In Rome, limehome is opening a location in the San Lorenzo student district near La Sapienza University and Rome Termini Central Station, known for its bohemian atmosphere. In Milan, limehome’s first location will be in Porta Nuova. Known for its “Bosco Verticale” (vertical forest), the neighbourhood is considered a model for innovative urban development and is a popular location for tech companies.
limehome is also extending its premium services to Salerno and the Amalfi Coast. The property in Salerno, a former hotel with direct access to the seafront, will be restored to its original hospitality purpose. Another limehome will be available in Maiori, home to the largest beach on the Amalfi Coast. From 2025, limehome guests will be able to explore Salerno and the Amalfi Coast, one of Italy’s many Unesco World Heritage sites.
Four new locations in Greece
In Greece, limehome has signed leases for four locations. In Athens, the apartment provider has selected one property in Exarchia, which is known for its nightlife and cultural activities. The building is located near numerous tourist attractions. The highlight of this limehome is an exclusive rooftop terrace. In Piraeus, limehome will be present in three locations. The port city is one of the most important maritime hubs in Europe and is one of the country’s up-and-coming tourist destinations.
Central location in Zurich’s old town
For its market entry, the hospitality tech company has secured a project in an excellent location in Zurich’s old town together with a Swiss investor group. The new limehome apartments are being built in Kreis 1, in a quiet area not far from the famous Bahnhofstrasse, in an existing building currently undergoing core renovation. Two units have a roof terrace, the others partly have balconies. In total, limehome extends over four floors. Guests should be able to book the suites from mid-2024.
