Opening in November 2023, Angama Amboseli will present a brand-new intimate lodge in the heart of the private 5,700-acre Kimana Sanctuary, Kenya. The country’s first community-owned conservancy, working in partnership with the Big Life Foundation, the Sanctuary is framed by verdant landscapes, an abundance of wildlife and sweeping vistas of Mount Kilimanjaro – the highest peak in Africa. Offering guests an idyllic East African oasis with high level, warm Kenyan service and well-considered guest experiences, Angama Amboseli is set within a fever tree forest where some of Africa’s last Super Tuskers roam. Offering ten tented guest suites, including two sets of connecting family units, featuring a contemporary take on African design, the high-end lodge has been designed with consideration to animals and nature throughout.
Visitors can expect neutral, earthy colours, reflective of the lodge’s surroundings with elegant, understated textures including canvas, concrete and rattan. What’s more each tent has been designed so that guests can witness undisrupted views of Mount Kilimanjaro from the bedroom to the shower and come complete with floor-to-ceiling screened doors leading to a private deck with a lounge area, outdoor shower and Angama’s signature rocking chair – perfect for mountain gazing. Other guest amenities will include the main Guest Area with flexible indoor-outdoor dining with a baraza and a sundowner fire pit, The Studio, which will house a safari shop, games room, art gallery, maker’s studio and a fully equipped photography suite.
There is no better setting to disconnect from the stresses of everyday life and relax and unwind. With exclusive traversing rights and unrestricted game viewing, Angama Amboseli will invite its guests to partake on a memorable gentle-paced and expertly guided safari to witness some of Africa’s largest mammal species including lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffalo and more. The lodge is accessible via daily Safarilink flights from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport to the sanctuary’s private airfield; private charters to and from the Maasai Mara; or by car via a three-and-a-half hour drive from Nairobi.
